Bulletin - Semester 1 Week 3

A delayed good evening readers!  I apologise for the late edition except that this time it was completely planned.  I had to spend the weekend down in Mollymook for a wedding and I got Friday and Monday off work.  Hard life, right?  Other than that I feel like I've been completely out of the loop of the world recently and feel like I have nothing inspirational to pass on.  Oh, I do have one thing: For people that weren't able to make it to the UTSpeaks lecture "Eating the Earth" about obesity, factory farming, fair trade, peak oil, peak phosphorus and climate change, you're in luck: It's available here: www.uts.edu.au/new/speaks/2009/February/1802.html.
And now on with the news....

Bulletin - Semester 1 Week 2

Hello readers.  It's me, Joey, your regular bulletin editor.  I'm back!  And I'm late!!  I'm so sorry!  Back from holidays feeling anything but relaxed.  I think the normal sequence of events is that people get sick at the beginning of a vacation.  The body, by starting to unwind, neglects it's immune defences and any viruses or other bugs it was keeping at bay jump at the opportunity to get their evil little tentacles through the door, or cell wall, or whatever it is they do.  This time it's happened in reverse.  Back from Bali and 4 days home from work with the worst flu I can remember having in a long time.  Did you know that cough syrup works by suppressing the receptors in the brain that make you think you need to cough?  Well, actually, I don't know if all syrups work that way but my doctor told me that this one does.  Of course then I quizzed him on whether I would now drown in my sleep because my numbed braincells wouldn't be jerki

Bulletin - Semester 1 Week 1

It has been a strange few weeks working my way back into the routine of student life and watching the co-op returning to its normal opening hours.  But the change is a welcome one; with it comes the social aspect necessary to these situations.  Even for those who, like me, tend to be a little shy, interaction on many different levels just 'happens'.  So, while I'm helping the wider community to grow, I'm also, gradually, conditioning myself to be stronger in my relationships with others.

I wonder what everyone else gets out of their time at the co-op.  It doubt it's just the wonderful food . . . but, then again, I could understand if it was =)

Bulletin - Semester 1 Week Zero

Hello everyone! Hello especially to all the new members we collected at O Week!

Welcome to the start of Autumn, the start of semester and the biggest bulletin I have ever seen. There's a lot of info packed into this here email - we have a new bread ordering system, suggestions on how to rack up those vollie hours, meeting minutes and agendas, a barbecue and a Free Skool (scroll down to the community section for those last two)!

Sit back, relax, let the news wash over you, and I'll see you all at the BBQ with a tofu skewer.

Bulletin - Semester 1 O-Week

Ladies and Gentlemen.  Welcome to another addition of the Thoughtful Foods Bulletin.  My weekend just seems to have turned into one of those that feels like it never happened.  It's so packed full of things to do that you don't have time to realise you're not at work until suddenly it's Monday morning again.  So, I'll keep it short.  I'll actually be away for the next two weeks so someone else will be sending out the latest Thoughtful Foods news to you.  This is another one of those bulletins packed full with news and information, so, with out further delay, read on, readers:

2009 Summer Bulletin 06

We had a Friday 13th this week!

2009 Summer Bulletin 05

Let me wish you all, rather sheepishly, a very happy, some what cooler, Monday, and a good beginning to the working week.  I do apologise for the delay.  A badly timed blackout in the neighbourhood resulted in the logistical issue of logging onto the world wide web with a laptop that had run out of juice.  It was nice sitting around in the semi-darkness though, with only tea lights to shine a path between the solid objects room.

2009 Summer Bulletin 04

Good evening fellow Thoughtful Fooders and welcome to another bulletin.  Already the first month of 2009 is behind us.  I think it's completely true what they say about a year taking about 18 months when you're little.  Then they get progressively shorter as you age until suddenly a year passes in what seems like should have been six months.  Why is that?  Does time suddenly become more valuable?

2009 Summer Bulletin 03

Happy Australia Day everyone and happy Chinese New Year.  It definitely is the time for celebrations.  Not to mention festivals and gigs.  If you're interested in what's going on in the city, check out the City of Sydney webpage for the free celebrations and activities in China Town and various locations for Australia Day.  I do apologise for the delay in sending out this bulletin.  Yesterday disappeared far too quickly and this morning was spent eating the scones I made with the lemon herb in the vege box from a week ago!  Thank you to those that submitted contributions for the 'Community' section.  One in particular - I hope someone volunteers Jutta.  I also received a number of enquiries which I don't think managed to reply to in time.  As I don't monitor this inbox regularly throughout the week I have included
